RPT AGM and Craft Meeting – Cancelled
The Company was due to be hosting the RPT for their AGM and Craft meeting on 24th March. This event sadly has been cancelled, apologies to everyone who had planned to attend.
The Richard Gardner Williams Banquet and Common Hall
The Richard Gardner Williams Banquet will be held on Wednesday 27th February at Skinners’ Hall. The banquet is held in memory of the Company’s benefactor, Richard Gardner Williams whose legacy in 1931 provided the financial support to enable the Company to build and flourish.
Court Dinner
All members of the Court and Masters Emeriti are invited, to join the Master, Wardens and their guests at the Court Dinner which will take place on Wednesday 22nd January 2020, commencing at 6.45 pm for 7.15 pm. The dinner this year will be held in the stunning Chartered Accountants' Hall.
Livery Dinner at Skinners’ Hall
The Company’s Livery Dinner this year will be held at Skinners' Hall on Monday 16th December. This is always a very popular event so please do book your places at your earliest opportunity to avoid disappointment. Applications will be accepted on a first come first served basis, so don't delay!
The Musicians’ Company Carol Service
For the last few years the Musicians’ Company have shared their annual carol service with us, held at St Michael’s Cornhill. Guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit, the service this year will take place on 11th December, and will be followed by a Christmas dinner in Grocers' Hall if you wish.
Patronal Service and Luncheon
This is the annual service held at St Brides Church, when members of the Company and their families come together to remember and celebrate the lives and fellowship of Company members no longer with us, this year on 21st November.
Darts Night
Did you ever apply to be a contestant on ITV's Bull's Eye or have you ever wanted to release your inner Michael van Gerwen? If so, the Events Committee have come up with just the thing for you. On Monday 4th November at the Flight Club Bloomsbury an evening of darts can be yours.
Learn to turn at the Max Carey Trust
The Events Committee are very pleased to announce that they have arranged another turning weekend for all abilities at the Max Carey Trust workshop in Portishead Bristol, 1st to 3rd November. This is an excellent opportunity to get quality instruction with a 2:1 ratio of students to instructors.
Members Walking Tours Through London
A meander through Marylebone will take place on 1st October, and Curious Covent Garden on 15th October. Whether you are interested in history, the monarchy or architecture, these inspiring, informative walks will show you the real London.
Livery Luncheon
To be held on Wednesday 25th September, this is an informal lunch for Liverymen and their guests and an ideal time to introduce potential new members to the Company. There will be an opportunity to welcome our new Liverymen who will have been presented with the livery at the Court meeting.
Meet Tim Cranmore at The Summer Reception
The Company will hold a reception at Apothecaries Hall on 17th July at 6.30 pm, after the Court meeting that day. Please book your place(s) through the members area and bring friends and family with you. This is an opportunity to watch Recorder Maker of the Turners' Consort, Tim Cranmore at work.
Turners Company Golf Day
This year’s Turners Golf Day will be held on 9th July at Beaconsfield Golf Club, a lovely heritage members club in Buckinghamshire. The day is open to all members of the Company and also their guests, with the day designed as a deliberate mix of competitive and social.
Election of Sheriffs of the City of London
Liverymen of at least one year’s standing are invited to attend the election of the Sheriffs on Monday 24th June. The election will commence when the Lord Mayor takes the chair at 12 noon precisely, and Turners are invited for lunch at Wax Chandlers' Hall after the election.
A Night at the Opera, with a difference!
No – not a Marx Brother’s evening – instead, join us for an opera-themed dinner at London’s Bel Canto restaurant, near Lancaster Gate on Thursday 13th June. The Bel Canto serves fine French food in a warm and intimate dining room, served by a team of fantastic, young, singing waiters.
Visit to Bletchley Park
A group visit has been arranged to Bletchely Park in Buckinghamshire, the home of the WW11 team that broke the enigma code (and so much more). Bletchley Park is a place of exceptional historical importance. The visit on June 29th will conclude with a splendid afternoon tea.
Spring Dinner
Ever wondered what the inside of a hall owned by one of the Great 12 would look like? Well wonder no more for this year the Spring Dinner will be held at Grocers’ Hall on Thursday 9th May 2019 at 6.30pm for 7.00pm. Bookings now available via the members area.
United Guilds’ Service, St Paul’s Cathedral
The United Guilds Service will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday 29th March. The Company will be allocated a limited number of tickets so please let the Clerk know as soon as possible if you would like to attend to avoid any disappointment.
Register of Professional Turners AGM
The Company will again be hosting the Register of Professional Tuners for their AGM and Craft meeting. The AGM will be held at Skinners' Hall on Tuesday 26th March, at the new start time of 12. The guest speaker this year will be Julie Crawshaw, Director of the Heritage Crafts Association.
Launch of the Turners’ Consort, concert and reception
Featuring the Turners’ Consort of eight medieval-style recorders, this one-hour concert to be held on Friday 29th March at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, will showcase recorder music, instruments and performance from the 1400s to the present day. The concert is free to all.
WCMPC card event for Junior and Renter Wardens
An Inter-Livery fun game of cards at Vintners’ Hall in support of The Lord Mayor’s Appeal Charity. This event is to be held on Monday 11th February 2019 and is run primarily to allow Junior/Renter Wardens to get to know each other well ahead of their year as Master, guests also welcome.
