Supporting the Craft, City and Charity for over four hundred years

Dear Clerk,

City Livery Concert – Sunday 22nd June 2014 – Barbican

I am writing as Sheriff and as the Sponsoring Alderman for the 2014 City Livery Concert to ask you to invite your Liverymen and Freemen and their families/associates to join in this key event in the City of London calendar.

The conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra will be Fabio Luisi and soloists include Christiane Oelze (soprano), Anna Stephany (mezzo-soprano) and Timothy Oliver (tenor). As part of their celebrations marking Richard Strauss’ 150th anniversarythe LSO will perform his epic tone poem, ‘A Hero’s Life’, and will also present
Beethoven’s sublime Mass in C, regarded as one of the composer’s most moving works.

The programme will begin at 7.30 pm. In addition students from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama will stage a pre-concert recital from 6.15 until 6.45 pm.

The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor, Alderman Fiona Woolf, has indicated that she will attend and it is hoped that the Masters, Prime Wardens and Upper Bailiff of the several Livery Companies will also be able to be present.

The City tickets are priced at £46 each and include an Interval Reception with complimentary drinks plus a souvenir programme. One sixth of the ticket price will go towards the Lord Mayor’s Appeal. These tickets will become available to the public during February and therefore I ask you to contact your members without delay, sending them this letter, to request them to confirm to you the number of special tickets which they wish to purchase. I suggest that you ask them to let you know by the 10th February at the latest so that you can be confident of securing some of the
exclusive tickets (although you can continue to request further tickets after that
subject to availability).

There is a priority booking line with the Barbican Box Office for City groups to purchase tickets. Please call 020 7382 7211 (Mon-Fri, 10am-5pm) and quote “22nd June City Livery Allocation” to access the special seats. Payment can be made by you by credit/debit card or alternatively an invoice may be requested.

I look forward to seeing you and your members at the Barbican next June.

Yours sincerely,
Alderman and Sheriff Sir Paul Judge
