We have again arranged for Company members to receive a weekend of tuition in woodturning at the Max Carey Trust, Portishead. All abilities can be accommodated from absolute beginner to very proficient. Indicative costs for the weekend are between £350 – £400 per person for accommodation meals and tuition, this is reduced slightly for two people sharing. Members are very welcome to bring family and friends. We are taking a£50 deposit per person when you book through the members area. The balance will be due immediately after the weekend.
The weekend provides both hands-on experience of woodturning and an opportunity to meet fellow Turners in an informal setting. Everyone will takeaway woodturned items with they will feel proud to have crafted.
Please book through the members area of the website.
About the Max Carey Woodturning Trust
Max Carey was a proficient woodturner for 70 years, providing encouragement and advice to would be turners over the decades. Always keen to develop new talent he provided the right solution to any problem. His own natural ability together with creative and artistic flare enabled him to tutor both new and experienced turners alike.
Max’s vision led him to create the ‘Mill’, a former joinery shop which had been unused for many years. Initially he invited members of the Avon and Bristol Woodturners to use his workshop, providing a focal point for new and experienced turners to meet, learn and develop their skills in the art of woodturning.
The Max Carey Woodturning Trust was formed to enable the facilities at the Mill to be available for the benefit of future generations of woodturners.
