These competitions are in memory of Bert Marsh who helped organise past competitions and encouraged Company members to get turning and to take part.

Who can enter?

There are two competitions.  Any Freeman or Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Turners may enter the Company competition.

Any holder of the Company Certificate in Turning may enter the Company Certificate competition.

Theme

Any piece of work, with no restriction as to subject, size or style.  There is no restriction on the number of entries by each competitor.

Detail

Pieces should not have been entered in any other Company competition.  Pieces entered for the Company Certificate competition should have been created since your certificate was awarded.

Work should be plain turning by hand by the competitor except for commercially made components such as screws.  Carving, polychromatic assembly, marquetry, inlay and the like may be incorporated.  Any combination of legally sourced materials may be used.  Fractal burning may not be used.

Prizes

Company competition:

Inscribed plates for both the best entry by a professional turner, and the best entry by a recreational/hobby turner.  Runners up in each will receive a bottle of wine.

Company Certificate competition:

First prize £250

Second prize £100.

No competitor will be awarded more than one prize.

Judging is on Monday 26th November (4pm to 6pm).

Public viewing is at the View, Love, Buy show on Tuesday 27th November (10am to 4pm).
