Turning Competitions Private View & Reception
When: Monday 26th November, from 6.00pm until 8.00pm.
The Company launches it’s 2018 competitions and would like to invite members to a private view and reception on the evening prior to the exhibition opening to the public the following day. The evening will also be attended by Masters, Clerks and their Consorts throughout the Livery.
The competitions are the largest in Europe and attract a wide range of entries from amateur and professional woodturners of all ages from across the UK. This year’s special Open Competition marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice. Woodturners are being asked to create works which reflect their personal style, techniques and response to the 1918 Armistice and the 100th anniversary on 11th November.
The exhibition will include stands from the Register of Professional Turners (RPT), the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB), the Society of Ornamental Turners (SOT) and the Association of Pole Lathe Turners and Greenwood Workers (APTGW). All the items on display on these stands will be available for sale during the evening along with many of the competition pieces. A special stand for the Bells of St Paul’s appeal will be selling limited edition turned bells from the original headstocks, and the Master Carvers Association (MCA) will be displaying and selling some specially curated music stands.
The cost for attending the private view and reception is £37.50 per person to include wine and canapés. Please bring your family and friends, the more the merrier!
If you would like to attend, please book by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
The next competitions will be held during the Wizardry in Wood Exhibition 2020. Further details to follow.
