The Felix Levy Open Competition

This competition is in honour of Felix Levy, a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Turners, who did much to promote the craft of turning.  He consolidated the relationship between the Company and the Society of Ornamental Turners and was instrumental in the formation of the Register of Professional Turners.

Who can enter?

Any turner normally resident in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.

Theme

Any piece of work, with no restriction as to subject, size or style.

Detail

There is no restriction on the number of entries by each competitor but the work must not have been entered in any other Company competition.  Work may be plain turning by hand or by mechanical means (ornamental or rose engine turning) or a combination of both.  All work to be by the competitor except for commercially made components such as screws.  Carving, polychromatic assembly, marquetry, inlay and the like may be incorporated.  Any combination of legally sourced materials may be used.  Fractal burning may not be used.

Prizes

First prize: a trophy, to be retained by the winner, and a prize of £1250 with a certificate.  Second prize:  £500 and a certificate.  Third prize:  £250 and a certificate.  Only one prize per competitor will be awarded.
