Wizardry in Wood 2021
I am a professional woodturner producing turned and carved vessels and sculptural work from my workshop in Perthshire. For over twenty five years I have strived to produce work of the highest quality and integrity using locally sourced native wood. I have been on the Register of Professional Turners since 1999 and have exhibited widely throughout the UK, Europe and North America. I have work in permanent collections of the Shipley Art Gallery as well as the Scottish Parliament. I attended several artist collaborate events and demonstrated to clubs and larger events.
I draw inspiration for my work from a wide range of areas and interests. I am continually documenting drawing and photographing from my travels and local environment. I have recurring themes of burning and texturing combined with carving to explore ideas and narratives in my work.
I enjoy teaching and the passing on my skills to students in a relaxed and easily understandable way. I run regular courses for hobbyists and those interested in becoming professional.
