Stationer Jonathan Drori is a Court Assistant, and also a Trustee of the Eden Project, an Ambassador for the WWF and was for nine years a Trustee of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the Woodland Trust. He is on the Board of Cambridge University Botanic Garden, the Cambridge Science Centre and Raspberry Pi, which recently sold its 35 millionth computer. Until recently he was Chairman of Ravensbourne University London. As he will explain in this talk, his work in many fields has been linked by a passion for the public understanding of science. He was a documentary director with the BBC, and as an executive producer he was responsible for more than 50 prime-time series, mostly on science and technology. His own TED talks on science misconceptions, pollen, and the beautiful tricks that flowers play, have been viewed millions of times. He was made CBE in 2006.

Jon’s recent book, Around the World in 80 Trees has been a surprise best-seller translated into 15 languages. It explains how the lives of trees are intricately entwined with history, culture and folklore. He and Peter will talk about science, books, childhood botanical trips, the importance of the beauty of books.. and (he says) “how one’s working life should be approached strategically, opportunistically or serendipitously”.

Peter Day was educated at Lincoln School and St Edmund Hall, Oxford. He worked for BBC Radio for more than 40 years from 1974. For most of that time he specialised in reporting on business for programmes such as Today, the Financial World Tonight, In Business and Global Business for the BBC World Service. In 2016, he presented his last ever In Business programme after 28 years. Peter is a Liveryman of the Stationers’ Company and is currently the Livery Representative on the Court.
