Woodturning at the City Livery Club Lunch
HRH The Princess Royal KG KT GCVO QSO, an Honorary Member of the City Livery Club, was principal guest at their Annual Civic Luncheon, held at Carpenters’ Hall on Wednesday 7th July 2021. In recognition of her long involvement with several of the Livery Companies of the City of London, Her Royal Highness was presented with the Club’s ‘ Root & Branch 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award’, by the President, Nicholas Somers.
This was the Club’s first ‘real’ event for 17 months and was attended by The Rt. Hon. Willian Russell, the Lord Mayor, Alderman and Sheriff Chris Hayward and previous winners of the Club’s prestigious Root & Branch Award, established in 2014.
Nicholas Somers, also a Past Master Turner, always takes one of Liveryman and RPT member Stuart King’s goblets with him to drink out of at any event where he is officiating on the top table. He finds it is a handy way of introducing the subject of turning. The goblet was ‘pole-turned’ by Stuart.
Stuart King will be giving a fascinating talk on prehistoric turning at Wizardry in Wood 13 – 16th October, Carpenters’ Hall, London
