Ypres and Battlefield Tour
Sunday 17th June to Tuesday 19th June 2018
To recognise the centenary of the cessation of hostilities in the First World war it is proposed to hold a Company visit to the Ypres and the surrounding battlefields. The tour will be organised by Anglia Tours and consist of three days and two nights in the 4* Ariane Hotel in Ypres. The draft itinerary is below. Highlights include the Last Post at Menin Gate with a wreath laying party supplied by the Turners, visits to Poperinghe Talbot House, The Welsh Memorial, Tyne Cot and many other sites and memorials for WW1. The cost will be in the region of £479-£579 per person to include, transport accommodation and all meals. The more that make the trip the lower the cost, so encourage your family friends and colleagues to come along.
As I am sure you can imagine visits to the Battlefields are in high demand during 2018. Given that I have received expressions of interest from a total of 27 people I have made a commitment to the tour operator that we will go ahead with the tour. Places will continue to be allocated on a first come first served basis therefore if you would like to go on this very special trip during this very special year please let me know, by email or phone, at your earliest opportunity and by Friday 19th January at the latest. A deposit of £60 per person will also be required to secure your place(s) which can be done by sending me a cheque for £60 pp made payable to the Worshipful Company of Turners of by paying £60 pp through BACS using sort code 20-32-37 and account number 70988766 and quoting your surname followed by WW1 if space allows in the reference.
I know you will feel disappointed come next year if you haven’t given yourself the opportunity to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War 1 by paying your respects to those that gave so much one hundred years ago.
