Standing Committee

To keep all aspects of Company Policy under constant review and submit matters of policy and/or principle for the Court’s approval. To maintain an overview of all the Company’s activities, issuing direction where necessary on behalf of the Court. To account to the Court for such directions.

Events Committee

To make Liverymen and Freemen more aware of their Company and to bring them closer together by organising social, cultural and sporting activities for their participation.

Craft Committee (formerly Howe)

To promote the ‘Mystery or Art of Turning’; and to seek out those whose achievements the Company may wish to reward. To promote, organise and manage the biennial Craft Competitions, Woodturning Connect, and Bursary Awards scheme. To organise and manage the Company’s participation in Exhibitions and Wizardry in Wood. To provide two members to participate in the Livery Companies Wood Group.

Charity

To consider and decide on recommendations for charitable giving. To investigate ways of increasing contributions to the Company’s Charitable Trust. To help members of the Company, and their families, in times of need. To produce Charity Newsletters informing members about the Company’s charitable giving.

Finance

To oversee the effective management of the financial assets of the Company and the Charitable Trust, and the maintenance of financial records. Review of budgets, income and expenditure forecasts and financial statements. Presentation of the Annual Accounts and reports to the Court for approval. To recommend the amount available for charitable distribution.

Communications

To coordinate the external communications and publications of the Company. To ensure that information is properly circulated throughout the Livery and also to ensure that the Turners Company becomes more widely known and appreciated by the various associated bodies and other Liveries.

Assistant Selection and Membership

To identify and encourage other members to identify potential new members of the Company who would contribute to the work of the Company and further its interests. To identify members who might join a committee, or be active in some other way. To identify potential assistants and ensure that they join a committee, or make some other contibution to the Company, before recommending them as Assistant.
