Court Assistants Mark Kermack and Richard Lucas participated, representing the Turners Company in the annual Inter-Livery Real Tennis Tournament at the Queens Club, London against 23 teams from across the Livery. Winning 11/20 games the team lost to the eventual finalists. Real Tennis is a sport with a 900 year history, it is described as: “a devilish combination of lawn tennis, squash, three-dimensional chess and poker, all played inside a gigantic pinball machine” the game is indescribably fun. The Tallow Chandlers have 24 Real Tennis players and the Turners Team of two would very much like to add to our number! The event concluded with a Pol Roget champagne reception and delicious formal dinner in the presidents room at Queens Club. Great fun.
