Turners at the Sheep Drive

The Master welcomes the Lord Mayor of London and the Lady Mayoress to the Turners’ stall at the Sheep Drive on Southwark Bridge, while pole lathe turner John Burbage shows the public how turners produced tools and implements in the City in the days before electric lathes. The stall was a magnet for visitors, and sales of turned items raised some £2,000 for the Turners’ charity.
