Master’s Mixed Media Turning Competition 2023
Who can enter?
Any turner normally resident in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland.
Theme
Any piece of turning using wood and either pewter or leather, or both. No restriction on size or style.
Detail
The entry may be turned by hand or by mechanical means (ornamental or rose engine turning) or a combination of both, all materials used must be legally sourced. Wood must be the majority medium, but it must also contain at least some pewter or leather, or both.
Techniques such as carving, piercing, inlay, decorative colouring and finishing may be used. All work to be by the competitor(s)* except for commercially made components such as screws. Fractal burning may not be used.
Competitors may enter up to two different pieces in this category, none of which should have been entered in any other Company competition.
Piece(s) may be offered for sale at the exhibition.
Prizes
£500 for first, £250 for second and £100 for third. Representatives of the Worshipful Company of Pewterers and the Leathersellers’ Company may make additional awards to pieces that particularly showcase their respective crafts.
No competitor will be awarded more than one prize in any one category.

* For the avoidance of doubt – the entry may be the work of one maker using a mixture of media or a collaboration between a woodworker and a pewterer/leatherworker.
