Liveryman Bill O’Leary and his wife make history in the New Years Honours list

Anita Newcourt, wife of Liveryman Bill O’Leary was graciously honoured by His Majesty The King in the 2025 New Years Honours List.
Anita, a serving Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve is currently serving on a three year full time time contract within Strategic Command and the award of the King’s Volunteer Reserve Medal is in recognition of her 40 years of dedicated service in the Reserves.
Bill, a retired Major General in the Army Reserve received the same medal in 2015, back then named the Queen’s Volunteer Reserve Medal for his service, and with only some 330 recipients in the medals 25 year history, they are the first ‘couple’ to have been honoured in this way.
Anita will be invested at Buckingham Palace later this year, a photograph of the event will be published then.
