Turners at the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch 2026

It’s was a busy day at the Turners stand at the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch in Guildhall, London. A pen made by a SEND (Special Educational Needs) school student was gifted to the Duke of Gloucester, who loved all the turned goods on offer. The Duke purchased an apple in spalted beech by maker Gary Rance. The Lady Mayor also made a purchase. The Master Andy Ewens and professional Turner Stuart King were on hand to answer all the detailed questions.

This was a deja vu moment for Stuart, who 25 years ago received his Churchill Fellowship Medallion from the Duke of Gloucester in the very same building – Guildhall London – after completing his research tour of Eastern Europe sponsored by the Fellowhsip.

A total of £1452.87 was raised for the Army Benevolent Fund, just from the Turners stall, plus £150 from Reg Hawthorne’s kindly donated piece for the Silent Auction.

As ever, thanks to our wonderful turners for supporting this event by providing such beautiful and unique items for sale.

The Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch brings together over 1,650 leaders and decision makers from across all sectors of the City of London and beyond. The Lunch is hosted by the Lady Mayor and Lady Mayor’s Consort and is attended by a Royal Guest of Honour each year.
