Turners at the Inter-Livery Clay Shoot 2026

The Worshipful Company of Turners fielded two teams at this year’s Inter-Livery Clay Shoot, joining more than 400 Liverymen and guests across two days of friendly competition, camaraderie and charitable giving.

Representing the Company were:
Turners A
Mark Kermack, Glenn Brown, Lex Agathangelou and John Khan
Turners B
Richard Lucas, Michael Todd, Jeremy Field and Ian Todd (guest)

Held annually each May at the excellent West London Shooting School, the event brings together participants from over 115 Livery Companies and affiliated organisations for what has become one of the most enjoyable fixtures in the Livery calendar.
Following a civilised 8am start with coffee, bacon rolls and registration, Mark Kermack distributed the Company’s smart new Turners gilets before competitors headed to the safety briefing and out onto the course.
Conditions throughout the day provided a full demonstration of the English springtime experience, with competitors encountering bright sunshine, torrential rain, hail and blue skies — sometimes within the same stand! Despite the challenging weather, both teams settled into their stride and some very respectable scores were achieved, with plenty of determination already being expressed for next year’s return, including the much-missed Shaun Stacey.

Whilst competitive spirit is very much part of the day, the event is equally valued for the friendships and fellowship it fosters between Livery Companies. The format allows ample opportunity between stands to meet fellow Liverymen, compare fortunes, and enjoy the sociable atmosphere that makes the Inter-Livery Shoot such a distinctive occasion.
A particularly charming aspect of the competition is the tradition of “The Glorious Twelfth”, whereby the team finishing in twelfth place selects the recipient of a charitable donation. Supported charities include The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, The Prince’s Trust, The Sheriffs’ & Recorders’ Fund and charities nominated by competition winners.

The day concluded with an excellent buffet lunch and prizegiving, giving competitors the opportunity to celebrate successful shots, lament near misses, and enjoy the company of old and new friends alike.
Our thanks go to the organisers and to the team at West London Shooting School for delivering another superbly organised event with great professionalism and hospitality.

Final scores for the Turners teams were:
• Turners A: 213
• Turners B: 228
With Turners B narrowly edging the honours this year, both teams are already looking forward to returning in 2027.
