The Master of the Turners’ Company, Christopher Scott, has cruised the canals of Britain for many years. But meeting a floating woodturner near Lichfield this summer was a first for him. Peter Fuller retired from a career as a groundsman and took up turning. He lives with his wife on a narrowboat where she does crochet. Peter squeezes his workshop into a 15 foot butty callled ‘Chip’, where solar panels power an inverter which drives his Nova Neptune Max lathe. (‘Neptune’ seems well named for a floating lathe). They call themselves ‘Hook and Turner’, selling their wares at craft fairs. So if you see them when walking the canal towpaths, give them a big Woodturning welcome!
