Jack Darach, Yeoman of the Turners’ Company
Jack is one of Britain’s leading young woodwind instrument makers. Based in Brighton, he was awarded the QEST Turner’s Company Scholarship in 2016 to work on new recorder designs. In 2017/2018 he received a Travelling Fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust to pursue research into recorder making across Europe and Japan.
Jack’s QEST scholarship enabled him to work with Tim Cranmore (currently the only other recorder maker working in the UK) and Jacqueline Sorel in the Netherlands. He produces a range of modern and historical instruments based on extant copies from European museums and his own researches.
