Kennet and Avon woodturners hold a competition during their Christmas gala evening. This year members were asked to turn a wig stand. The winners were given a selection of timbers donated by Dalmann Ltd the timber merchants and also some pieces from a local furniture manufacturer. But the real winners were the oncology departments at the Royal United Hospital in Bath and the Great Western Hospital in Swindon as all of the wig stands, 62 in all, were donated to patients who have a need for a wig following various treatments for cancer. This is the second time the club has done this, 2 years ago they donated 42 wig stands to the Little Princess Trust in Hereford. John Boyne-Aitken BEM
