Building Crafts College Prize Giving 2022

Many congratulations to the 2022 winner of the Worshipful Company of Turners Award, Andrew Uren:

Andrew is studying Fine Furniture part time and is close to completing in March 2023 with Level 3 Furniture Design and Making. Andrew studied L2 Bench Joinery in 2020/21 and was part of the first part-time cohort for Furniture Making. A strong emphasis on developing competent and confident woodworking skills – using both traditional hand tools and modern timber processing machinery – provides students with the technical knowledge to start designing and making their own furniture items as they progress further through the course. Included within the course is Woodturning with students expected to achieve the Worshipful Company of Turners’ Certificate in Turning.

Andrew is one of the keenest woodturners to have taken advantage of the College turning workshop. He has turned many beautiful and original pieces from his own timber reserves and been an inspiration to other students. His skills have impressed tutors, and he is a worthy winner of the prize this year.
