The Brigantes (Liverymen of the North) held their annual Golf Day at the Royal Liverpool Club at Hoylake on 29/30 April 2025. This is the course where Rory McIlroy won the Open Championship in 2014, and Tiger Woods before him in 2006.
The 40 Brigantians included 4 hailing from the Turners – Nigel and Marilyn Luson, Peter and Lynette (non-playing) Ellis, with Marilyn bagging engraved crystal for Best Lady golfer and part of the winning 4 Ball team.
Golf was preceded by a fine dining dinner in the RLGC clubhouse the evening before, and was blessed with spectacular weather and playing conditions.
The Brigantes is a group open to all liverymen, and run 3 events a year (summer and Christmas lunches, plus the golf day) – tactfully alternating between venues east and west of the Pennines.
