The Platinum Jubilee Bowl
Made by George Shapland, the Platinum Jubilee Bowl was commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Turners to be auctioned at the Lord Mayor’s Big Curry Lunch in aid of service charities as part of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. For further information on how to bid in the auction, visit the Soldiers’ Charity.
The bowl is made from approximately 640 individual pieces of rosewood, black tulipwood, wenge and beech and took a month to complete. The outer ring is made up of 70 rosewood wedges, each wrapped in black tulipwood veneer to represent each year of Her Majesty’s reign.
