Ron is a Registered Professional Turner (RPT)
Ron spent a large amount of his life in the timber industry and was introduced to woodturning as a Christmas gift by his wife in 1989. In 2003 he was offered the tenancy of a unity at a newly created Craft & Design Centre. Since 2006 he has specialised in creating ‘Handcrafted Pens of Distinction’ and was invited to be a Tutor for the then new Young Turners Training & Development Programme and is still currently the Co-ordinator of the programme on behalf of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB) and the Worshipful Company of Turners.
In 2012 Ron was requested to mentor an Indian businessman in the art of Pen making and travelled to Cochin, Kerala, India in April 2013 to teach and launch to the Press and on Television the craft and the creation of ‘Rytol Pens of India’.
As well as selling through Quality Craft & Gift Shows Pens are also sold via the Internet throughout the UK and Internationally. Lessons in Pen Making are given in his purpose-built workshop in the grounds of his home.
In 2018 he was entered on the Register of Professional Turners (RPT)
