Taken from the Blackhorse Workshop where Arturo now works…
“Arturo Soto is a multiple Design Award winner working in London. Born in Mexico, he graduated from Tadao Ando’s Garza Sada Center of Arts, Design & Architecture in Monterrey, Mexico in 2012. In 2017 he graduated from a Masters Degree in The University of the Arts of London and started Memories of Green which focuses on producing elegant sustainable design with a zero-waste approach.
Wanting to show the beauty of designing with waste materials, he developed the first collection Event Horizon. In September 2017 he won first place in Matter of Stuff Designer Residency in Carrara, Italy and launched Deskcape Noctis – a luxury desk organiser made of marble waste and highly recycled brass exhibited later at London Design Festival 2017 and 2018.
His on-going brand, Memories of Green was shortlisted as outstanding in the Creative Conscience Awards 2018. Shortly after, his most ambitious pieces were exhibited in The Five Palm Jumeriah Hotel Dubai and won the Creative Enterprise Award in 2018 for his Luxurious Approach in Design and Waste.
In 2019 he won The Cockpit Arts Turners Award 2019 & The Worshipful Company of Turners of London Award 2019 earning him a spot in the prestigious Cockpit Arts Creative Business Incubator.”
